Together We Learn Through Play
We at St. Anna's believe that all children are unique. All have individual feelings, needs and skills that are theirs alone. We have the privilege of assisting, supporting and guiding our children to enhance and extend these special traits in a friendly, comforting and positive manner.
Play is a primary means of a child's learning. Young children learn most effectively when they are motivated to learn and can negotiate their own learning
through play experiences.
|
 |
By providing a secure, warm and hygienic environment, all children regardless of backgrounds or abilities will feel safe and welcome.
Through the programs, staff respond to childrens' ideas, giving the children opportunities to self select activities whilst still fostering and supporting important individual development. Children are presented with various opportunities and are able to choose activities at different levels, giving them greater control and
responsibility for their own learning. |
 |
 |
By encouraging them to invest in themselves and in their learning in this manner they develop confidence in their own abilities and are therefore more willing to attempt new things. In stimulating their curiosity, imagination, inquisitiveness and creativity through
the many flexible indoor and outdoor opportunities we aim at developing
children to their fullest potential.
We also believe that young children need limits and clear guidelines and staff model behavior we would like our children to develop – tolerance of others, patience, a
sense of fairness, a feeling of security and trust, high self esteem and confidence, self approval and the ability to extend friendship, acceptance and love to others.
We believe this enriching educational, personal and physical environment where the experience is highly valued will promote learning and equip the children with skills that will stay with them for life. |
Cognitive Skills
Our team of Early Education Carers will work with your child to help develop their problem solving and thinking skills.
With the help of fundamental processing based activities your children could learn math, involve themselves in quizzes, develop jigsaw assembly skills, explore shapes and enjoy matching games. |
 |
Fine Motor Skills
Children love to draw and these sessions help your child to develop their correct pencil grip skills. Beading can be a challenge and our team will work and help your child develop these skills along with thorough training in all eye and hand co-ordinations.
These skills, when developed, will prove to be of great benefit to your child in their later school years. |
 |
 |
Gross Motor Skills
These fun based sessions prove to be highly beneficial for all children. Here we work with your children to instill simple functions, those we as adults take for granted.
Skills such as balancing, hopping and climbing work hand in hand with creating confidence and are an essential ingredient to your child's overall development.
Even our carers really love these programs |
Emotional & Social Skills
These behavioral based sessions encourage your child to portray the correct emotions when dealing with their peers in a class situation or in the playground.
Your child's social skills will be sharpened, encouraging them to play and associate within groups in a fully united manner. Special attention is given to encourage your children to share and to display empathy and a caring attitude when in a group.
Then we look at your child's social skills when around staff and visiting parents. |
 |
 |
Language & Communication Skills
Here we encourage learning and understanding with the use of words. We help your child to communicate their needs and wants with words rather than with their emotions such as crying or with aggression.
Even babies and toddlers will be assisted to develop these basic skills with the clever use of non-verbal communications such as tapping on the fridge. |
Self Help & Independence Skills
This very important part of your child's learning will encourage and build on your child's confidence and self esteem.
Achieved successfully through the skills of dressing eg tucking in of shirts, putting shoes on feet, the art of feeding themselves, without the mess, along with the skills associated with the cleaning of hands and faces.
In all these sessions praise is important and our fully trained carers offer lots and lots of it.
Working With You In Your Child's Development
At St. Anna's we offer all children the benefits of an early education. These finely created skills will help them in later schooling years to work and play successfully with other children, their teachers and yourselves as parents. |
